And why not?
Well, now, really. RT @deleste: you could always try this chocolatelockerz.com/s/156193530

This was on a list of 10 Entirely Ridiculous Beer Tattoos (HT @philmellows), coming in at Number 5. But I don't think it's ridiculous. In fact I think it's quite clever (in a non-ridiculous way).
Hmmm. Will I or won't I...?
(Obviously I won't, but that just seemed like a good way to conclude).
What's not to like?

Aaaaaaaaaaaaghhhhhhhhh......
The museum lists this artefact as dating from 2007. Carbon dating, presumably.

Even if punctuated properly, this is just silly.

BLOGGING: Some Irish academics have followed their US peers and become enthusiastic and influential bloggers, testing their ideas and engaging with the public outside the rarefied walls of academia, writes DAVIN O'DWYER
WHERE DID all the intellectuals go? In an era when heated arguments on current affairs TV shows pass for reasoned debate and condensed newspaper opinion pieces try to convey complex theories, the era of the prominent public intellectual seems a mirage.
I'm seriously liking Cracked.com right now. Here's why:
5 Reasons Rats Are Way Scarier Than You Think

Stupid news of the day, from a couple of days ago...

This hits so many marks, it's almost unbelievable:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2093796/British-tourists-arrested-Ame...
Extract: "Despite telling officials the term 'destroy' was British slang for 'party', they were held on suspicion of planning to 'commit crimes' and had their passports confiscated..." (continues in similar vein)
This is College Humor's version of a "lost" pilot for 24 set in the early 1990s, complete with floppy hair for Jack Bauer and lots of clunk. Those of you who were sentient in the 90s will find it very funny; the rest of you will find it extremely tedious.
"Planning to pop the marriage question on Valentine's Day? A study in the February issue of the Journal of Marriage and Family may make you reconsider. While married couples enjoy some health advantages (likely because of shared health care plans), the study found that unmarried couples who live together are generally happier and have better self-esteem."
Well that's interesting. It only further puts the kaibosh on claims that the exact opposite is true. Claims that conservative news media keep trying to make, even when the studies they point to don't really give them the evidence they need...
...as per my blog post of last year: http://thesciencebit.net/2011/08/26/marriage-saves-lives-well-it-has-a-nice-r...

See above. We're supposed to believe that these pictures show "Emily" before and after a 15-day course of Revita Derm. Yes...15 days! These come from this website, which Aaron Hastings posted on Google Plus (yeah, I know. I still saw it).
Stupidly, we are also told that "Emily" took these two photographs herself. With her own camera. Quite how she struck precisely the same pose, cast precisely the same shadows, and combed her hair into precisely the same position is not explained.
In other completely unrelated news, here is a video showing somebody using Photoshop to transform a guy into some other better looking guy in only 1 minute 27 seconds (i.e., not 15 days):
